A kangaroo startled by a man walking his dog attacked the pair, pinning the pet underwater and slashing the owner in the abdomen with its hind legs.

what causes them (kangaroos) to be violent?

#1 - Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:07 AM ESTI'm not from Australia but I have friends who have visited often. I have heard that kangaroos suffer a lot of abuse at the hands of humans. I don't know if that's true throughout the country or more so in the outback, where my friends spend their time. That could cause a kangaroo to react to an unexpected human/dog presence violently. Or maybe this particular 'roo had a bad experience with humans or dogs in the past.

I'm glad the man was able to defend himself and his dog, and that there were no fatalities (kangaroo included).
